Pennsylvania In Play-At Least for the Dems

How long has it been, since Pennsylvania's late primary has been in play for a Presidential election? I honestly don't remember.

The Democrats have a lot to scream about in the Keystone State, a chance to pick a Presidential candidate...it's heady stuff. Already just a couple of days following Texas and Ohio, the national media is already camped out in PA ready to put us in the news on a daily basis.

Not only is it good for Democrat voters, but hopefully it will be good for the economy, what with all the money that will be spent. Sure, I hope our organization will get a piece of the ad pie.

Two "downers" to the unfolding events however.

  1. McCain and the Republicans have nothing to crow about, which means not a lot of publicity and,
  2. KING EDWARD I will be getting a lot of national Face-time. Just what we need, more ego-feeding for Fast Eddie.

It could just make him even more cocky, which could mean a harder time for the Republicans in the Legislature to get control of the state budget which is now under debate.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but we can't afford another bloated and LATE state budget. And our Gov has already been running rough-shod through the Legislature. Do we need him with an even bigger hat size?

CPAC Well Worth the Effort

I would have a tough time recommending anyone attending CPAC, (Concervative Political Action Committee) convention in Washington, D.C. with a bad case of the flu. Otherwise, GO! It's a great opportunity to meet with like-minded citizens, as well as a chance to check out hundreds of new books, videos, and all sorts of items with a conservative political slant.

CPAC is also the place where anybody who is anybody in conservative politics shows up. I had the chance to listen to Mitt Romney, John McCain, G.W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and on and on.

I will be outlining some specifics in the days and weeks ahead both here on the blog and on the Talk Show.

The message today...before you "kick the bucket," go to a CPAC convention. You'll be glad you did.

By the way, had three or four calls on today's talk show from local folks who were at this weekend's event.

THAT'S kewl!

McCain at CPAC

\ I'm on my way to CPAC in Washington and I thought the following piece from TOWNHALL.COM by MATT LEWIS best describes what John McCain may or may not do in his speech Thursday........

Just as Mitt Romney delivered a "Mormon speech," John McCain desperately needs to give a "conservative speech." Of course, the good news is that he is scheduled to do so at CPAC on Thursday .... No TV ad will do the job. Solving McCain's base problem will require a personal visit to pay homage. This is McCain's chance, and I think how he performs will tell us a lot about him. Here's why this is so important: I've asked a lot of Romney supporters why they are supporting him (considering his past positions). Oddly enough, they always tell me the same thing: "At least Romney cares enough to pander to me." Well, I don't know about pandering, but John McCain surely needs to reassure conservative voters. You see, conservatives feel like he doesn't care enough about us to even pretend to be one of us. The CPAC speech will tell us a lot about McCain. If it's a stump speech about him being a "foot soldier in the Reagan Revolution," we will know that is perfunctory pablum and that he didn't care enough to write something new. In that case, it is likely to assume he didn't want to give the speech, was probably talked into it by his staff, and isn't willing to humble himself by really trying. But if McCain looks us in the eye, acknowledge problems, but promises ... promises ... he will make conservatives proud on issues ranging from Life, to Judges, to taxes. Then, he has a chance. ... Of course, this won't win all conservatives over. McCain will never win all conservatives over. But it would be a start.

Not bad....huh? Join me in the chat room each day during CPAC. Hope yer listenin'
